As a result of nobody stepping forward and kidnapping me, I have decided to take matters into my own hands. And since it is impossible for a person to brainwash (de-brainwash?) herself into correct behavior, I'll just have to use a different form of therapy (because Retail Therapy is not working out so good for me).
I have decided to Do Something with my attic.
For four years I have procrastinated, but now I am finally ready to go forth and Clean Up the Place. I'm even going to paint - using a cool technique I learned on Decorating Cents. I will curb my impulsive spending by focusing all of my energy on rehabilitating this half-finished, sweltering hole of an attic!
Of course, this is going to require some shopping and cost some money, you know.
But I refuse to enjoy it!

I want pictures... Always take pictures before you start a project... that way you can see how much better you have improved upon it..

I'll be following this closely..I went through transforming a garage into my atelier last year and it is such a job to do it on a low budget. Paint did wonders. Lighting did too..I had a few extra outlets installed !
I'm still re-organizing ...it never stops!
Good luck and enjoy!!!! the results are such fun !!!

oh dear god. Here is what I think you should do. Take everything out of there. This will be hard, but you have to. Get some empty bins to store your supplies in, and stack them someplace. Now, when your room is empty, begin with the wall repairs etc.
Put your desk in the area you want it to go, and plan your storage spaces around what you will use most. Decide if you should buy drawers (plastc ones on rollars) as a neat way to hold your stuff.
I have had to re-arrange work area's more often than I would like to admit, and the hardest part is moving from point a to point b when its too crowded with "stuff".
I would help you if you lived nearby!
Right now, I think you need a nap. You have a big job ahead of you, and you should get some rest.

I've re-thought my advice to you, and think you need a much bigger plan. I can tell you are good at drama, and that may save your neck and get you a new room. It's always better to have someone else do the work while you sit directing "him" with a cold compress on your head. That's what you should be doing, making a plan. Pull out some old black and white films to get a few ideas and take it from there. This kind of plan must always have follow up, which is continuous and constant praise showered upon "him" (who must be made to think it was actually his idea) to change the attic into your new studio.

Sharyn, you're nuttin' me UP!
Will take all comments under advisement!
I think I was able to stir up enough "Drama" to get a little action going. We'll just have to wait and see as to whether I'll have to pull out the Big Guns later....
As to the room's organization, it's in a little better shape that the photos revealed. I have several storage units, drawers, etc that I've been buying over the course of the last year, so I think you will approve of my solutions. I will try to post a few pictures today of some of the progress. Although it's not much, (in comparison to the entire breadth of the project) it's an amazing difference.
