June, 2012, Card Chain Challenge Sign-Up!

Welcome to the June Card Chain Challenge!

I am so happy to have the CCC back on my own blog and to have the proper amount of time to devote to it. I had moved it to the Lily Pad, but it never got the time and attention it deserved. And I don't think I got to participate in a single CCC, and that's just wrong!

I have made minimal changes to the CCC now that it's back here at SOS. Namely, a participant will no longer sign up with a link to her finished card. She will sign up using her name and a link to her blog or photo gallery and then email me a photo of the card she created.

Please review the Revised FAQ's for further details. (You can also reach these FAQ's via the CCC FAQ's link located immediately below my blog banner.)  

CCC defined. For those of you who are new to the CCC, this is a card exchange with a twist: you make and send a card to the person immediately above you on the list and receive a card from the person immediately below you on the list. (The last person on the list receives a card from the first person on the list.)

Creative options. Make a card that uses at least one of the following three options. You can actually use two or all three, but you are only required to use one of them.

OR

one of the following themes:

Independance Day

OR

Cook-Out

OR

Friends

You have until Friday, June 15, 11:59 p.m., EST, to sign up below and email me a photo of your card (please include a link to your blog/photo gallery). Please sign up using your first name and your state, province or country. EX: Ann from Texas; Betty from Ontario; Cathy from Wales; Darla from Italy.

February 2012 Card Chain Challenge

AHA! I have finally managed to get the Card Chain Challenge posted over at the Lily Pad! (If you could see my To Do list you would understand why I'm a week late.)

I also realized that I should have posted the November CCC reveal yesterday, so I decided to go rogue and post twice in one day! 

For those who don't know what the Card Chain Challenge is, it's a monthly challenge that allows you to send a card to someone and receive a card from someone. It's an international exchange, so it can be very exciting to open your mailbox and get not only a wonderful hand-made card but also one bearing foreign and exotic stamps! (Your letter carrier will start to think you're really something, too!) The CCC originated on this blog, but I transferred it over to the Lily Pad because I wanted us to have a nice monthly card challenge that was a little different.

You can sign up for the February Card Chain Challenge as soon as you've made your card. Since I'll be posting the CCC on the third Tuesday of each month, this means participants will have at least three weeks to make a card before they need to sign-up and mail it on the 15th of the next month.

I'm finally getting a chance to participate in my own Card Chain Challenge after months of being left out!

July and August 2011 Card Chain Challenges

Hi, all!

Here I am in my first week of unemployment. I should be sitting in the corner perfecting my rocking skills, but I think I must be in denial because I'm enjoying not being at work. (My feeling is that I can wait at least two weeks before going into full-on Panic Mode, right?)

Anywaaaaaay, the July CCC Reveal is now available for viewing over at the Lily Pad as is the August CCC sign-up!

If you are unfamiliar with the CCC, it's an international card exchange. We've been doing it for almost two years and it's mighty fun! Go here to see past reveals here on my blog. (We moved it to the Lily Pad blog because we wanted to share the love in a more public forum!)

Anywaaaaaay, (again) you have until August 17, 11:59 p.m. EST to make your card and sign up. I hope you join us as this is really a satisfying experience. And don't worry about your card-making experience or skill level - everyone is welcome.

A Happy Ending

Way back in January, Australia was taking a real pounding from the rain, and a lot of fooding took place. It was so bad that roads were washed out and homes were lost! Another casualty was the mail, and our Paula was disappointed that she never received Rikke's card and that same had been reduced to pulp and had probably become part of the ocean floor.

Which is sad - I hate to think of any handmade card being wasted on unappreciative fish.

But then a miracle happened!

(Or they found a bag of misplaced mail or something.)

Because on the same day that Paula received her May CCC from Donna, her letter carrier delivered RIkke's card - all safe and sound (and dry)!

How cool is that?

The May 2011 CCC Reveal!

AHA! It's the first day of the month, and that means there's a heapin' helpin' of eye candy waiting for you over at the Lily Pad!

I wasn't able to participate because I was dealing with a heapin' helpin' of other stuff, but I'll be playing this month, for sure! (It's very annoying to create an international card challenge and then not be able to participate in it yourself, so no more of THAT, by cracky!)

Friends are Special Treasures (Card)

Greetings from under a rock!

Just kidding - but I feel like I'm under a rock I've been so busy! I don't even know who was sent home this week on American Idol (and I've been avoiding all news media sources so don't tell me)! I hope it wasn't Hailey. Or Casey. Or James.

This card was made for the March CCC. As y'all know, this month I did the reveal over at the Lily Pad because I think it will make a nice future home for the Card Chain Challenge.

I think the paper from K & Company's Mira line insisted on having its way with me, and I, having no self-control whatsoever, decided to lay back and enjoy it! (I hope that wasn't too risque a comment, but I can't help it - bright colors make me throw caution to the wind!)

One thing I really liked about this card was how much visual bang (no pun intended, honest!) you get for the buck of time you put in. This was a really quick, wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am! kind of an experience.

O-kaaaaay. clearly my mind is... on other things? I don't know. Let's just get on to the supply list, shall we?

SUPPLIES: Cardstock, K & Company's Mira patterned paper, Hero Arts stamp, VersaFine ink (Onyx), Prima flowers, gems, Tim Holtz rosette die.

INSTRUCTIONS: er... this one is pretty straight forward. You cut your patterned paper, glue it down, stamp your sentiment, stick down your rosette, flowers and gems, and you're finished!

Sorry to be brief, but I have to go find Spouse now....
