There's a Blog Hop a'Comin' & Gigi Moments

I'm starving for lunch, but I just had to share a few things!

First of all, Lily Pad Cards is turning one year old on Sunday.  Can you believe it? Where has the time gone?  

Nothing like kids and blogs to make you realize how old you're getting!

The fun will commence at Lily Pad Cards at 9:00 a.m., EST, on Sunday, April 1, 2012!

There are three prize packages with a total retail value of over $300! These prizes will be awarded by random draw. Now onto the Gigi portion of our program!

She had two memorable moments yesterday. The first was in the car. I had just picked her up from school, and the little stinker was pestering me to take her to Steak'n'Shake for a 50% off shake. (Just what she needs - more sugar-induced energy.) But yours truly was feeling the effects of three nights with less than four hours sleep each, so the request was denied on grounds of sheer exhaustion.

Gigi: Well, will you play with me then?

Me: Play with you? Play what?

Gigi: Doctor!

Me: Doctor? [As I am not a little boy looking to further my knowledge of female anatomy, I am, of course, taken by surprise.] And just what would that entail?

Gigi: You come to my office, and I poke you with a stick!

Me: WHAT?! [Now I'm concerned. What's this about poking people with a stick? Who's been poking my child with a stick? What kind of a stick? Is this a euphemism?!] When did any doctor ever poke you with a stick?

Gigi: [rolling eyes] That one guy, remember? He opened my mouth and stuck a stick in there - I about threeeeew UP, Mom! 

Me: [Oh, for the love of Mike....] That was a togue depressor, you nut! He was trying to see if you had strep throat!

Gigi: So he had to look all the way into my stomach?

Sheesh.

Later, she was playing the Wii - a very fierce running race - and I hear her screaming, "Get out of the way, you stupid person!"

Me: Gigi! Let's not be rude. It's not okay to yell at people and call them stupid.

Gigi: I know. I'm sorry. [And she really is - she's very sweet that way.]

A few minutes later...

Gigi: Excuse me, George - gotta get by! ... Excuse me, Peter - love that hat, by the way! ... Excuse me, Annie, I'm runnin' to WIN! Pardon me, Mary Kate, but I need to be in front of you!... Little Old Lady, can you please move over some?...

And it went on like that for the rest of the game.

She's such a nut!

Day Four of TCM's 2012 Spring Release and BOTH Our Birthdays!

Here I am on Day Four of my stint as Guest Designer this month over at The Craft's Meow! 

In addition to promoting the 2012 Spring Release, The Craft's Meow is turning a year old this week!

But here's a twist: Today is MY birthday, too! (And I am a LOT older than TCM, I'm sad to admit - hee-hee!) So happy birthday to all of us who were fortunate to be born on the first day of spring! (Or perhaps, it was our births that made the world sit up and declare a celebration was in order and that winter was officially finished!)

You never know. It could have happened that way.

Today's featured set is Thanks Bee to Thee, designed by Nina B Designs for The Craft's Meow! And to share the birthday love, The Craft's Meow is offering this stamp set as a free gift with any stamp purchase of $50 or more. 

As a little side note, this is my favorite set from the new release because (1) it's awesome in every way - especially in its versatility; and (2) it's got bees. I have always loved bees and their life lessons. You can imagine how thrilled I was when I learned at the age of twelve that my name means "bee" in Hebrew.

Today we have a Theme Challenge: Celebratory, of course! 

The rules for the Celebration Challenge are posted on the TCM blog; the deadline is 9:00 pm, PDT, Saturday, March 31st.  The prize for the Birthday Theme Challenge will be a guest designer spot for TCM, randomly chosen. Wooo-Whoooo!!!

I'm a bit annoyed that I couldn't get a better picture of this card! I used my favorite embossing-on-watercolor-paper-Ranger-Distress-inks-Perfect-Pearls technique, and in person it's lovely. Here, it looks a little garish. I'm going to take another picture of it later this morning in different light and see if I can get a better shot. If I'm successful, I'll upload it here so you can see the difference. 

Well, I re-took the picture. It's a little better since the yellow taint is less - lol! However, the rosy tints have eluded capture once again!

This card actually looks much prettier in person - photos never can quite capture the amazing awesomeness of the Perfect Pearls solution mingling with the Distress inks and then drying to a dazzling but muted sparkle-fest. YUUUUUMMY!
