Memory Blog Summer Blog Blitz

Dave has been at it again - I think I may have to nickname him Dave the Die King - lol!

All this week we're having a blog blitz over at Outside the Box (the Memory Box Design Team blog) to reveal the new summer 2012 collection.

P R I Z E   O P P S:

There will be a drawing at the end of each day from the pool of reader comments for a prize! So don't be shy if you want a chance to win one of the new dies!!!

There is a Flickr card contest! You have until Thursday, June 14th, (11:59 EST) to upload a card to the Memory Box group using at least one Memory Box die. Two winners will be selected to receive some new Memory Box dies, and the winning cards will be highlighted on Outside the Box on Friday, June 15th.

(FYI, I am totally in love with all of the new dies, but I really, really love the ones with the Hawaiian theme.)

Here's a card I made (I used some glimmer mist on the dark flowers - it looks lovely in person but was impossible to capture on film):

Memory Box cardstock: Lagoon, Pool; Patterned Paper: Polka Polka from the 6"x6" Viola collection; Memory Box dies: Graceful Honu, Outline Honu, and Lovely Lei; Computer Fonts: Mariah, Hibiscus; Pearls: Mark Richardson; Other: Glimmer Mist, pop-dots

I N S T R U C T I O N S:

1. Make Lagoon card base and Pool panel.
2. Print computer sentiment on Pool panel and adhere to card.   
3. Adhere Pool panel to card.
4. Die cut Lei and Honu from white and Lagoon cardstock and patterned paper.
5. Adhere white Lei to card. 
6. Spritz Lagoon Lei with Glimmer Mist and allow to dry; fussy cut random flowers and adhere to white lei. 
7. Stack and adhere Honu to card with pop-dots.
8. Adhere pearls to flowers and Honu.

H O W   T O   M A K E   T H E   S E N T I M E N T:

I used Photoshop Elements to make my sentiment. I wrote "aloha" in Mariah font. Then I created a new layer and used a dingbat font (Hibiscus) to create the flower. I aligned the two layers and used the pen tool to bridge a tiny bit of a gap between the tail of the "a" and the hibiscus flower. Print on regular paper to determine where you will need to adhere your cardstock. Once you've got the sentiment where you want it, adhere the cardstock using low-tack tape, load it into your printer, and print. (See, wasn't that easy?)

Memory Box Butterfly Note

Hey, y'all!

I made this card over a month ago to post on the Memory Box Outside the Box blog, but the craziness of my mom's emergency hospitalization and Gigi's I-step testing drove it right out of my mind. (All is now well, so no worries.)

Luckily, cards don't expire!

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make your card base.
2. Stamp Vintage Dreams on Bluberry, trim, mount, and layer with Vanilla Bean and Thistle panels; adhere lot to card.
3. Stamp Just a Note on Thistle, punch and adhere.
4. Die cut butterfly and adhere.
5. Tie ribbon into a bow and adhere. 

Although I didn't do it here, the front of the card could be dry embossed for a little extra doo-dah.

Memory Box Drift Flowers Card

Hello, everybody!

Today's card features a blend of old and new products. I love how easily Memory Box collections and dies mix and match, don't you? This card can be used for a variety of purposes - just stamp in the sentiment of your choice above the ribbon buckle: Thanks, Happy Birthday, Sympathy, Get Well Soon, Just a Note, you name it!

SUPPLIES:

Drift Flowers Cardstock: (Dill, Eggshell, Antique Gold Soiree Shimmer) Memory Box; Patterned Paper: (Minuet collection); Memory Box Rubber stamps: (Drift Flowers, Distressed Garden Record) Memory Box; Dye inks: (Frayed Burlap) Ranger Industries (Vintage Sepia) VersaFine; Pens: Sharpie; Accents: (gems) K & Company, (diamond stickers) Memory Box; Fibers: (adhesive ribbon) K & I; Dies: (Simple Buckles, Blank Ticket) Memory Box; Tools: (Vagabond) Sizzix

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Make card from cardstock.
2. Cut paper panels and adhere to card.
3. Stamp Distressed Garden Record and Drift Flowers on cardstock, die cut, and adhere to card. 
4. Die cut buckle, thread with ribbon and adhere both to card.
5. Color gems with Sharpie and adhere.

Day Five of Memory Box Blog Blitz

1. Make card from cardstock and ink edges.
2. Cut patterned papers and Wassail panels, punch borders, layer and adhere to card.
3. Cut timepiece paper panel, ink edges, and adhere to card.
4. Die cut butterfly and ink edges.
5. Stack and thread buttons with twine.
6. Stack and adhere to card: ribbon, butterfly, and buttons. 
7. Punch ticket, draw stitching, and ink edges. 
8. Stitch triangles with embroidery floss and adhere to card.

That was a pretty complex card for me, so I decided to relax and go for something clean and simple with this thank you card featuring the new Wild Blooms die:

4. Die cut tag, stamp sentiment, and attach with pop-dots.
5. Tie ribbon into bow and attach.
6. Adhere pearl stickers.

7. Tie ribbon into bow and adhere to key.

Memory Box Happy Birthday Butterfly

Starting on Monday, February 6, Outside the Box, the Memory Box Design Team's blog, will be hosting a week-long blitz with drawings every day to give away some of the awesome new releases (which will be revealed at this time as well)!

So you need to schedule a trip every day starting tomorrow, enjoy the cards and leave a comment to enter the drawings.

Here's my card for this lovely Superbowl Sunday. I did something a little different this time. Instead of punching the butterfly from patterned paper and adhering it to the card as a 3-D object, I die cut the panel and slipped some patterned paper beneath. This would also work nicely with the die cutting all the way through the card face to reveal a patterned paper in the card's interior. Although this pattern is too dark and busy for any notewriting, we have plenty of papers that would be perfect for such a move!

5. Stamp sentiment.
6. Thread buttons and adhere with glue dots.
7. Adhere butterfly body.
