Here we go again. It's another celebratory event for which I'm responsible. And if that's not enough pressure, my mother and sister are coming in from out of town - which means that I have to clean like there's no tomorrow so I can keep up the pretense.
You know the one I mean. Up until now I have fooled them into thinking that I keep a clean and tidy house. I can do that because they live four hours away. Little do they know that this place is a STY in its natural state.
What do I mean, "Clean like there's no tomorrow"? There IS no tomorrow. They'll be rolling into town around noon, so I have to get cracking.
But wait! There's still that party to contend with! I have a cake to pick up. As well as groceries and balloons and helium and $5 of brand new pretty gold pennies and some Other Stuff. And then I have to make all this Other Other Stuff: goodie bags and a prince poster and a bunch of little heart-shaped sandwiches and all these little doo-dads for the games they're going to be playing. And then I have to remove some spots from Gigi's princess dress, finish the scrapbook of Gigi for my mother that was supposed to be done at Christmas, load up a digital picture frame with pictures of Gigi for my mother's birthday present, encourage my hair to lose its gray, (that would be code for dye job) set up the party site, (Fellowship Hall at church) make the foundations for their little craft project, and I know there's more, but my list is in the other room.
And I don't have time to run get it!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
