"Loly, Loly, Loly, get your adverbs here...."
I have this song stuck in my head because of Loly in Alabama - the one to whom I sent a card for the July CCC.
As opposed to all those other Lolies out there.
I am somewhat fascinated by this card because I look at it in much the same way a mother hen might look at a duckling she found in her nest: Oh, how lovely... but I don't think that came out of ME.
Don't get me wrong, I am actually quite enamored of the thing. I've decided it's the patterned paper that is throwing me off and making me feel like this card is not of my own making. This patterned paper is not my typical style and neither is the color palette, so the two of them are throwing me off - lol!
I think it came out very nicely, though, so I am taking the lesson that one ought to regularly grab materials one normally wouldn't use and set up a personal challenge to make them into something one would like.
So. Go do that.
And report back here with your amazing creations!
S U P P L I E S: Cardstock: Cougar 80# white, Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Sweet Threads, PB & J (Basic Grey); Vellum (pale green); Stamps: CL371 (Hero Arts); Ink: VersaFine Black Onyx (Tsukineko); Dies: Darla, Vivienne, Moonlight, Kaleidiscope (Memory Box); Gems (Hero Arts); Other: Stickles, Copic YG93, Glossy Accents
I N S T R U C T I O N S:
- Cut and adhere panels of PB & J patterned paper to card base.
- Color five heart-shaped pearls with Copic marker and set aside to dry.
- Die cut one each of Darla and Vivienne butterflies (including torsos) from white cardstock and two each of Moonlight and Kaleidiscope butterflies from vellum.
- Stickle white butterflies and let dry.
- Once dry, build buterflies bottom to top: vellum, white, vellum, torso.
- Once all layers are secure, use Glossy Accents to adhere hearts to butterfly torsos; then adhere butterlies to card. (Don't forget to bend your butterly wings upward, "fluff" them from one another.)
- Stamp sentiment on white cardstock and trim.
- Adhere sentiment panel to Sweat Threads patterned paper and trim. Repeat with blue cardstock and adhere to card.
Thanks for stopping and have a blessed day!
great card. Lucky Loly. Love the butterfly dies. Might have to get these myself. The PP is quite amazing.

I love this card and admit that the thought that this was not your usual style did cross my mind. It's funny that you blogged about it! :)

GORGEOUS! Perfect mix of patterns and colors! I'm with you on the patterned papers: I've only recently begun to collect a few because it always felt like cheating to me to use them instead of stamping. But there are some beautiful papers out there and I'm having fun using them here and there anyway.
