Howdy, Stampers!
I've had such fun making today's card using a technique called Inlaid Die Cuts (at least I think that's what it's called). I've been seeing it regularly and then I saw some videos showing it in the Clean & Simple One-Layer Cards 3 class at Online Card Classes.
I was hooked immediately.
I decided to make a masculine card using this technique, and here it is: my Clean & Simple, One-Layer tribute to Kandinsky:
S U P P L I E S
Memory Box die (Large Ringlets), stamp (Boy Oh Boy), patterned papers, and cardstock; Inks: VersaMark (Tsukineko); Accents: enamel dots (My Mind's Eye)
I N S T R U C T I O N S
- Make card base and round opposite corners.
- Cut kraft panel adn round opposite corners.
-
Die cut Large Ringlets from the kraft panel - you will have an outline of the die (i.e. a large hole), and then adhere the panel to the card front. Do NOT throw out all the negative bits as you will need two of them.
-
Adhere the actual die cut of ringlets to a piece of scrap paper. (You will use this to map where you want each color and patterned paper to go.)
-
Die cut Large Ringlets from white cardstock and adhere to the kraft panel with a Zig glue pen. Because you've already die cut the kraft panel, the white die cut of ringlets will be flush with it.
-
Die cut Large Ringlets from cardstocks and patterned papers, keeping all the negative bits separated rom one another.
-
Place the negative bits inside the kraft die cut of ringlets you adhered to a piece of scrap paper earlier. When you're happy with your design, remove the negative bits with a Quick Stick or a piece of washi tape and adhere them to the corresponding spot on your card.
-
Stamp sentiment.
-
Optional: add suitable embellishiments.

This is great. At first I though you had used lots of circle dies!! Wouldn't that have been a lot of work!! One lovely die. Another for the wishlist I suppose. Thanks for sharing

Fabulous use of the technique, Kandinsky would have tried this if he'd have had a cutter I'm sure! Jo x
