Memory Box Blitz: Summer 2015 Release

M Y   P R I Z E

The prize you can win by commenting on my blog post at Outside the Box (not here) is the die set I used for my card today: the new Open Studio Circle Forest Scene die set! (Is it not the cutest?) You get two large dies of rolling hills with trees, two house bases, two house overlays, a front door for the larger house, six trees, and three clouds!

S U P P L I E S

Memory Box: Open Studio Circle Forest Scene die set, cardstock, 6" x 6" Sprout  patterned paper (retired) and Vanilla Bean Morocco; Poppy Stamps: sentiment from new Hope and Thanks clear stamp set; Inks: VersaFine (Imagine Crafts), Spring Moss, Blueberry Sky (PTI); Accent: brad (Basic Grey), ribbon (Offray); Other: foam dimensional tape

 

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Die cut large/tall treeline circle three times: 1 each from green and blue cardstock and 1 from coordinating patterned paper.
2. Die cut small/short treeline circle twice: 1 from green cardstock and 1 from coordinating patterned paper.
3. Trim trees from all the cardstock circles and edge top of circles (where the trees used to be) with green ink.
4. Stamp sentiment on small/short treeline circle.
5. Adhere green cardstock circles to matching patterned paper circles.
6. Edge bottom of blue circle with blue ink, turn so the bottom is now at the top and the trees are pointed downward (you can trim off the trees if you like).
7. Adhere large/tall treeline circle to bottom of blue circle (see TIP below).
8. Adhere small/short treeline circle to front of large/tall treeline circle with foam dimensional tape; make sure to include small pieces of tape behind the trees.
9. Die cut house overlay and clouds from white cardstock and house base from patterned paper.
10. Adhere house overlay to base and then adhere house to card with foam dimensional tape.
11. Edge bottom of clouds with ink and adhere two to sky. Adhere third cloud with foam dimensional tape.
12. Wrap card with ribbon and tie bow. (I tied mine upside down on purpose because I liked the way the tails filled in the negative space.)
13. Snip prongs from brad and adhere to center of bow with glue dot.

T I P S

I don't have a circle die large enough to create the top of the circle (sky), but I discovered I didn't need one! Die cut the the larger of the two treeline dies on blue cardstock, turn it upside down (trees pointing downward), and temporarily tape it to a grid - so the top of the circle is on a horizontal grid line, and the sides at its widest breadth are aligned with vertical lines (it will fit perfectly within a 4"-wide square).

Now take your largest treeline die cut and place it over the bottom of the upside-down circle of sky. Slide the treeline circle up the blue circle until both the circles together fit exactly within a 4" x 4" space on your grid. Adhere the bottom green treeline semi-circle to the sky semi-circle and - Voila! You now have a perfect circle.
