Card Chain Challenge Prize!

I'm a slacker.

I've been a very bad blogger but it can't be helped. I just have too many items on my plate. Please forgive my meager offerings!

But I'm posting today with some rather exciting news!

As you may (or may not) know, the Card Chain Challenge now has its own blog! Now that Gail and Jo and I are starting to get into the swing of things, we've gone and gotten a sponsor for this month! Rubber Dance is a Norwegian stamp company. All the deeply etched red rubber stamps are lovingly handmade by the owner Bibi in her home-based workshop and are sold unmounted.

A Card & A Give-Away

Hi, y'all! 

I don't know who wrote that song about the "hazy, lazy days of summer" but they must've been smokin' crack because my summer days are CRAZY!

Today I have a card and a giveaway. First, the card, published in the March, 2013, edition of Scrapbook News and Review: 

Thank you card inspired by the style of Downton Abbey's Lady Crowley

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make card base. 
2. Cut patterned paper to fit card front, pierce hole for flower's brad and adhere bottom 2/3 to front (leave the top 1/3 unglued for now).
3. Round bottom corners.
4. Adhere trimming and trim at sides.
5. Punch out tag, stamp sentiment, and attach.
6. Nest flowers, pierce with brad and insert into patterned paper panel, flattening prongs behind.
7. Adhere top 1/3 of patterned paper panel. 

T I P

There are two ways you can adhere a brad so it doesn't show on the inside of the card.

1. Lay out the design's elements on the patterned paper panel so you can pre-pierce the hole for the brad. Leave the top 1/3 of the paper unglued when you attach it to the card so you can insert the brad and open its prongs.

2. Open the brad's prongs on the back of the flower. Then adhere the brad/flower to the card using a strong adhesive.

April 2013 Card Chain Challenge Sign-Up!

Welcome to the April, 2013, Card Chain Challenge! I've decided to add something to the mix this month and see how people respond. I've got a prize for the person whose card is randomly selected!

(A picture will come later as my camera's battery is currently charging.) 

Challenge explained. If you're new to the CCC, it's fairly simple. This is an international card exchange - you sign up to send one handmade card to the person above you on the list, and you will receive one handmade card from the person below you on the list. I also do a reveal of all the cards with links to the challenge participants' blogs / online photo galleries. Please read the Rules and FAQ's if you want to play along. :~D

Creative options. Make a card that uses at least one of the following four options. You can actually use two, three, or all four, but you are only required to use one of them.

The Silver Lining (a Giveaway)

They say every cloud has a silver lining, so I look at the end of the Lily Pad as an opportunity to get reaquainted with my cardmaking community on a more personal level again and a chance to play more with my stamps and make some videos. (I had just gotten my snazzy little HD video camera two months before we launched LPC and it's been gathering dust ever since.)

I also see this silver lining as extending to y'all. To celebrate the resurrection of my blog, I'm offering a rather nice little parcel of stamping swag! 

The prize package. Stamps and other crafty items with a retail value of over $200.

The requirements. To be eligible to win these goodies, you must:

And the Winner Is...

If you didn't catch my give-away last week, you might want to consider yourself lucky! Gigi thought it was a cool game to try to count how many stamps we used on our "Magic Recipes" 3-ring binder. (I suspect this sent people screaming for the hills as only 13 brave women attempted to answer the questions.)

Here's the binder, followed by the questions AND the answers.

1. All but one of the stamps is by Hero Arts. Identify the rogue stamp that isn't made by Hero Arts. (It's easy to describe.)

The rogue stamp is the air mail stamp stamped in green, due south of the capital "E" in "recipes."

2. Identify the artist responsible for that rogue stamp image. (Not so easy - he's a man of letters, though!)

Nick Bantock, creator of that famous (infamous?) romantic duo, Griffin & Sabine, designed this lovely airmail stamp! (See why I told you he was a man of letters?  Hee-hee-hee!)

3. Tell me how many Hero Arts stamps were used on this puppy! (Do not count multiple stamps of the same stamped image - just the stamps themselves. Example: I've got a leaf stamp that I made three impressions with. Don't count that as three stamps because only one stamp is responsible for those images.)

Ah, therein madness lies! There are no less than 27 Hero Arts stamps here:

4. Tell me how many images were created using masks (these are by Tim Holtz and they are the rather largish "negative" images you see). Hint: each letter counts as an individual image.

There are 18 masks in all: 12 letters, 1 scroll work design (very hard to see, I'm afraid), 4 cogs/gears, and a rather large clock face.
