Memory Box Card: Happy Halloween Boo

Greetings and salutations!

It's the third Tuesday, so it's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box!

Today's card features punkin' dies in honor of Halloween being just around the corner. (I say this rather tongue in cheek given we're still in August and all the craft stores have been displaying Halloween since July 5th.)

S U P P L I E S

Memory Box dies (Jolly Jack O Lanterns, Contour Typewriter Keys, Swooning Bats) and papers (Kraft, Jack O Lantern); Ink: Distress Ripe Persimmon (Ranger); Pen: Zig Fine Point Black; Accents:  gems (Mark Richards); Other: fun foam

S U P P L Y   S U B S T I T U T I O N S

If you don't have the Memory Box dies above, substitute Bat Cave or Batty Border for the bats. Stitched Pumpkins can fill in for Jolly Jack O Lanterns. If you're missing Contour Typewriter Keys, use Typewriter Lowercase Alphabet and a circle punch.

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make 3.5" x 5" card base from kraft.
2. Cut kraft panel 3" x 4.5".
3. Ink edges of card and panel with Ripe Persimmon.
4. Die cut Jolly Jack O Lanterns twice and letters from Contour Typewriter Keys.
5. Edge all die-cuts with Ripe Persimmon and adhere to card.
6. Die-cut and adhere bats.
7. Adhere gems.
8. Write sentiment on kraft panel and snip ends for a banner. Score banner twice at each end, fold, and adhere to card.

T I P S

If you don't have a sentiment that fits the bill, just write it by hand. If you're afraid to write on your card, write on a banner so you can re-do it if needed. And, of course, you can always computer-generate a sentiment and print it on cardstock.

It's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box!

The focus of my card is the new Pinecone and Greenery die:

 

S U P P L I E S

Memory Box dies (Pinecone and Greenery, Parker Alphabet), patterned paper, cardstock (Kraft, Thistle, Vanilla Bean); Ink: Ranger Distress embossing; Embossing Powder: Wow; Accents: sequins (Cartwright), gems (Mark Richards), wood veneer star (Studio Calico), ribbon 

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make 4.25" x 5.5" card base from Kraft cardstock.
2. Cut patterned paper and cardstock panels and adhere to card.
3. Die cut Pinecone and Greenery twice from Vanilla Bean cardstock and once from Thistle cardstock and adhere to card.
4. Die cut three sets of letters from Vanilla Bean cardstock, stack, and adhere to card.
5. Tie three bows from ribbons, bind together, and adhere to card with glue dot.
6. Apply embossing ink and powder to wood veneer star, heat, and adhere to bow.
7. Adhere gems and sequins.

Memory Box Card: Watercolor Roses

It's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box!

Today I made a one-layer card featuring a little inlaid die action with one of the new dies and a sentiment from the last PoppyStamp release:

S U P P L I E S

Memory Box die (English Rose Stem) and PoppyStamps sentiment stamps (Hope & Thanks); Paper: Memory Box cardstock, Canson watercolor paper; Inks: Ranger Archival Ink; Other: Zig watercolor brush markers, Twinkling H20's

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make 4.25" x 5.5" card base.
2. Die cut rose stem from panel of watercolor paper.
3. Before removing die-cut, place tape on back side of die-cut sheet to keep internal bits of flowers in place.
4. Remove die-cut and paint background of panel using washes of Twinkling H20's.
5. Stamp sentiment and heat set.
6. Paint internal pieces of flowers using Zig watercolor markers.
7. Highlight flowers with white pen.
8. Use white pen to create dot trios randomly across card.
9. Paint die-cut separately, dry, and insert into panel.

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make card 4.25" x 5.5" base.
2. Cut 4" x 5.25" panel, emboss with Bengal Detail Plate and adhere.
3. Die cute two Drop Ornament layers and Blissful Bundle.
4. Adhere larger ornament.
5. On smaller ornament, stamp Most Wonderful Time of the Year with embossing ink, apply Platinum embossing Powder, and heat set.
6. Color Blissful Bundle with clear Wink of Stella and adhere to smaller ornament with foam dimensional squares.
7. Adhere smaller ornament to larger ornament with foam dimensional squares.
8. Adhere gems and pearls.

Hiya, Stamp Fans!

It's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box, and this week we're having a Blog Blitz to reveal the fantastic new holiday die release!

Memory Box dies, (Stitched Thank You Square Frame, Tanglewood Frame, Cascadia Butterfly Trio) cardstock, and patterned paper; Accents: gems (Recollections); Other: Sakura glue pin

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make card base.
2. Cut and adhere white cardstock and patterned paper panels to card.
3. Die cut Stitched Thank You Square Frame, Tanglewood Frame, and Cascadia Butterfly Trio.
4. Trim Tanglewood Frame die-cut to fit and adhere to back of Stitched Thank You Square Frame die-cut, then adhere the frame to the card.
5. Adhere butterflies and gems.

T I P S

• Don't be afraid to layer dies. Using them either as a die-cut (like I did here) or using the die cut as a stencil can really increase your design choices. 
• The Sakura glue pen is my go-to adhesive for pinning down the delicate and intricate details that are the trademark of Memory Box dies. It offers pinpoint precision and control. It's like a ballpoint pen, but unlike competitor versions, it doesn't clog, overflow, or fail to stick. For top results, dot or jot a line of glue, wait about three seconds for it to set, and then press and hold the glued bits for about two seconds. Love. This. Glue!

Memory Box Card: Follow Your Bliss

It's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box!

June is our first month to have a challenge, and the theme is butterflies. so I decided to pair one of my favorite dies, the Cascadia Butterfly Trio, with the Geo Fragments die (another favorite).

S U P P L I E S

Memory Box Follow Your Bliss stamp, Geo Fragments and Cascadia Butterfly Trio dies, Bubblegum, Key Lime, Mango, and Pool Gingham patterned papers and Squash Distressed Dots patterned paper, and Bubblegum cardstock; Distress Inks: Broken China, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick  (Ranger); Accents: gem stickers (Starform)

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make 4" x 5.5" card base from white cardstock and score (but don't fold yet).
2. Die cut Geo Fragments from front of card.
3. Fold card and round bottom corners.
4. Stamp sentiment in Mowed Grass.
5. Adhere Bubblegum cardstock panel to back of card front.
6. Die cut Cascadia Butterfly Trio from Bubblegum, Key Lime, Mango, and Pool Gingham PP and Squash Distressed Dots PP.
7. Edge butterflies with contrasting inks: Bubblegum PP = Spiced Marmalade; Key Lime PP = Broken China; Mango PP = Bubblegum; Pool PP = Crushed Olive;  Squash PP = Wild Honey.
8. Arrange butterflies and adhere.
9. Adhere gem stickers.
