Hampton Art Tag - Magical

Welcome back to my own personal Halloween tag parade! You can make these either as single tags, or to put on cards, or to combine into a book (which is what I did).

Today I've got another Halloween tag featuring Rare Oddities and An Eerie Tale products from Graphic 45, and this one has a trick to go with the treat!

S  U  P  P  L  I  E  S

Rare Oddities and An Eerie Tale 6" x 6", 8" x 8" and 12" x 12" Patterned Papers, and Die-Cuts; Ink: Distress Brushed Corduroy (Ranger); Marker: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Accents: .25" satin ribbon; Other: office tag (3.25" x 6.25"), thin foam dimensional squares, foam dimensional tape, Scor-Tape; Tools: paper cutter, scissors, score board, bone folder, foam ink applicator, hole punches

I  N  S  T  R  U  C  T  I  O  N  S

1. Swipe sides of tag with black ink or marker.
2. Cut patterned papers (one panel of green pattern to cover card, one panel of books 6" long, sentiment panel, and one strip each of purple paisley and red rulers).
3. Swipe external sides of patterned papers with black ink.
4. Adhere green patterned paper and strips to tag and re-punch hole. (Trim to fit if needed and then re-swipe sides with black ink.)
5. Edge tag and hole with Brushed Corduroy ink and adhere "Magical" die-cut.
6. Layer book panel on sentiment panel, aligning right edges. Score and fold book panel where it extends past sentiment panel to create flap.
7. Adhere flap to back of the sentiment panel to form a "book."
8. Cut tag from patterned paper, punch hole, thread with ribbon, and adhere to "book."
9. Fussy cut maiden with two pumpkins, (one piece) man, (one piece) and pumpkin (one piece); edge all with brush end of marker.
10. TEMPORARILY adhere "book" to tag and arrange man, pumpkin, and maiden with pumpkins as desired. Lightly draw outline of maiden, man, and his pumpkin on "book", then remove it and cut on the outline.
11. Adhere "book" to tag.
12. Adhere maiden with foam dimensional tape and man with thin dimensional squares.
13. Adhere pumpkin with dimensional foam tape and tuck its pumpkin leaf under the maiden's pumpkin to keep "book" closed.
14. Add gems and ribbon as desired.

Garden Journal Card Class at Neu Scrapbooking

Hi, all!

Two weeks after my Summer Treats class, I'm teaching at the Neu Scrapbook Store again. This time we're going vintage with Garden Journal, featuring BoBunny's Garden Journal 6" x 6" patterned paper, some of Memory Box's latest die release, and your own stamps! I designed these cards so you can stamp a sentiment specific to your occasion. Leaving space for a variety of sentiment sizes and messages allows you to quickly and easily insert the sentiment of your choice! (I'll bring the sentiment stamps I used, of course, so you can use them if you would prefer.)

W H A T   Y O U   G E T  

Three (3) A2-sized cards (4.25" x 5.5") and envelopes, all card components, and a variety of sentiment stamps to use.

S U P P L I E S   T O   B R I N G

Tools: trimmer, score board, bone folder, detail scissors, pencil, eraser, ruler, corner rounder, fine point black pen

Adhesives: Foam dimensional tape/dots, tape runner, Ranger Mutli-Medium Matte or Glossy Accents

O P T I O N A L   S U P P L I E S

We'll be using Victorian Velvet and Old Paper Ranger Distress Inks with foam ink applicators, so if you have these items and would rather not wait for your turn at the basket, feel free to bring them.

If you have sentiment stamps that you think would be perfect for these cards or an upcoming occasion, bring 'em on in!

Summer Treats Card Class at Neu Scrapbooking

Hi, all!

I taught a Memory Box tags class last November at the Neu Scrapbooking Store, and it went very well. Now that I'm on break, I'm teaching a few more!

The first one up is Summer Treats, featuring Lawn Fawn's What's the Scoop? clear stamp set and Doodlebug's Sunkissed 6" x 6" patterned paper!

W H A T   Y O U   G E T  

Three (3) A2-sized (4.25" x 5.5") cards and envelopes, all card components, and a lesson on using colored pencils with and without Gamsol.

O P T I O N A L   S U P P L I E S

I used colored pencils on my cards and will be providing same to pass around. I'll also be showing you how to use your colored pencils alone and with Gamsol. If you don't want to wait on supplies, feel free to bring your own pencils, Gamsol, and tortellons/paper stubs).

However, if you don't want to color with pencils, (Copic lovers, I'm taking to you - lol!) feel free to bring your markers, etc. You can also choose your own color combos - just make sure they won't clash with the rest of the card.

Preposition Proposition?

I was apologizing to my friend Darnell for my slow response to her email, and I saw that I had written:

I have a mountain of email to dig out from under.

As you may or may not know, an alleged Churchillian quote is this one:

That is the sort of nonsense up with which I shall not put!

Churchill was actually not being a grammar snob but was, in fact, responding to an editor's correction of one of his sentences that ended with a preposition. The correction, apparently, resulted in a rather ridiculous sentence so Churchill responded in kind. 

Sir Winston Churchill died 50 years ago last week, so in honor of his memory, (and wit) I hereby dedicate this sentence:

I have a mountain of email out from under which I must dig.

Rest in peace, Churchy. You were da' Bomb.

Memory Box Online Card Class: Dresses to Die For!

I've been building an online card class featuring Memory Box products, and I'm thrilled to say that it's finally ready!

The class will go live at 9:00 a.m., EST, this Sunday, June 2, at The Art Studio which is operated by Scrapbook News and Review. This self-paced class is the first in a series that will focus on friendship and encouragement cards featuring Memory Box fashion dies. 

I can't share photos of the cards - although you can see the bottom of at least one that made the final cut in the picture below (as well as some of the goodies that are embellishing the cards). I also included a few detail thumbnails - one from each card - to give you an idea of what you'll be making!
