Day #15: Use It Up! & Memory Box Card

I'mb sick, I'mb sick!

I gabe my last final yesterday, so, of course, today I'mb sick.

Not that I'm complaining. I've had a most relaxing day passed out in bed, surfacing for the occasional cold pill and dose of orange juice. I could get used to this if it wasn't for the minor inconvenience of not being able to breathe....

Today's card is inspired by one of my fellow DT members, the amazing Pam Sparks! I love the Jolly Jingle Bells die but wasn't doing it justice in my card attempts, and then I saw Pam's card. Talk about a brilliant idea - I never would have thought of suspending them from the Whimsical Flourish die (obviously). I ended up using #98372 - the Riviera Corner die (a close relative of  Whimsical Flourish) because the one side was better suited to my overall card design. I also used the Winterberry Sprig die as part of my "bouquet."

Day #14: Use It Up! & Memory Box Card

Good afternoon, stampers!

It's my day to post on the Memory Box Design Team blog, Outside the Box. The freezing temperatures here made my fingers want to write an homage to my mittens, but I decided to make a card instead, featuring the Toasty Mitten die.

I was pleased with my efforts until Spouse failed to recognize that the two shapes were mittens. (I knew he needed glasses, but this is pitiful, wouldn't you agree? Even with my punny sentiment, he didn't recognize the mittens.)

Day #13: Use It Up! Card Challenge

It's Friday the 13th, and I'm vaguely wondering whether Jason Voorhees wants a new hockey mask for Christmas as the current one is getting a little dingy....

(I was 16 in 1980, so as part of the original target audience, I feel somewhat compelled to tip my hat at one of the most successful media franchises in America.) 

I was also compelled to make a tag that was a send-up of same media franchise but then thought my macabre sense of humor might not be appreciated, so I decided to go with a cute little penguin instead!

And since I've just learned that the Simon Says Stamp Let it Snow Challenge is currently going, I thought I'd go ahead and submit. I keep meaning to get back into the swing of things and play along with some challenges, so here we go!

Day #12: Use It Up! Card Challenge

I'm getting very excited - I gave three finals yesterday and will give one later today and then one on Saturday - and then I'm finished!

Well, sort of finished. I still have a massive amount of grading to do - BUT that I can do from the comfort of home and will not be required to find a parking space or even to get dressed.

That's some heady stuff there!

So I decided to change it up and do a horizontal card for once. The angle of the camera makes it look a little wonky, but at least the light is decent. What do you think?

Day #2: Crop Stop GD & Day #11: Use It Up!

It's my second day to post over at the Crop Stop blog as the December Guest Designer!

Today I used some of the goodies the Crop Stop folks sent me: namely, a gorgeous doily die, some fantastic ribbon, and a lovely gem that I colored with a Copic marker to make it more blue-green in color.

Other supplies not pictured: American Crafts Charcoal cardstock, embroidery floss

I N S T R U C T I O N S

1. Make card base and round corners.
2. Cut patterned paper and adhere.
3. Die cut doily and snowflake, layer and adhere.
4. Tie loop of floss and bow from ribbon; adhere both.
5. Color gem with Copic BG57and adhere in snowflake center.

T I P

If your colored gem isn't exactly the right shade, doctor it with a Copic or Sharpie marker. If you decide you don't like it, just remove the ink with alcohol.

Day #10: Use It Up! Card Challenge

Okay, because I am insane, I've figured out how I'm going to solve my little problem of date-matching so I can get back on track again.

I am going to post this on the 10th with a link to Card #9 - the one that should have been posted on December 9th, AND I'm going to republish yesterday's post on the 8th (like it should have been all along).

Am I not clever?

Well, that's one word for it....

Deranged also comes to mind.

Here's Card #10 - and I really loved how it turned out! (I'm especially proud of my triple bow!!!) It never fails to amaze me how much embossing does for a card. I should really do it more often.

Day #9: Use It Up! Card Challenge

In a bizarre time-travel twist, that will surely confuse anyone who's reading this post, let's all pretend that I didn't forget to publish my blog post yesterday and that this post (which should have been published this morning but wasn't) is finally being published at 11:30 p.m. And, of course, the post that was published this morning will be retroactively published under yesterday's date so it will look like I never forgot to publish it in the first place.
