VIDEO: PicMonkey Glitch

I received some card photos that were teeeny this last time around, and so I decided to go see what could be causing the problem, and LO!

PicMonkey has a little glitch going on.

Easy to fix, but I didn't quite catch it at first, so others might not either.

I made a video of this because I'm trying to improve my Screen-o-caster skills. Although I made it for Jane, I decided to share it with everyone when I discovered the glitch.

VIDEO: How to Resize Photos in PicMonkey

I've been meaning to make a video using one of those programs that allows you to video your computer screen so the viewer can see exactly what you're doing in real time.

Thanks to Screencast-o-matic, I finally did just that - and from the comfort of my own bed, I might add! (I was forced to do this while everyone was asleep this morning - only way to guarantee some quiet! Luckily, Spouse wasn't snoring.) 😉

So with no further ado....

T I P

Reducing a picture's size is never a problem in terms of maintaining quality, but trying to enlarge a small photo is another story entirely. You can bump it up a tiny bit, but very quickly the picture becomes pixelated and loses detail faster than you can squeal, "Cheese"! I strongly recommend adjusting your camera setting's file size default to at least the "middle" option (different cameras have different settings). In other words, never choose the smallest size option(s).

Weekend Bedrest and a Funny Video!

I've been diagnosed with a bacterial infection and have been ordered to stay in bed and take drugs until Monday or else my legs may fall off.

Or something like that.

I suppose I should be grading papers right now, but I'm in a snotty mood and feel it's dangerous for me to be wielding a red pen at present - especially after some of the atrocious informative speeches I've had to listen to this week. (Frankly, some of them need all the help they can get, so I'll just do a blog post instead.)

I found a video clip the other day that will give you a good idea of my teaching style. The gal in the video may be a flight attendant and I may be a Public Speaking teacher, but we're both in the same pickle: making a disinterested audience listen to dry and somewhat boring material. She tackles the problem the same way I do - with humorous patter.

A Card & a Video for The Craft's Meow

Today is my day to post at The Craft's Meow, and I was so smitten with the Welcome To The Office stamp set, I couldn't help but make another card using some of these elements. This time I used the ink blots and coffee ring stamps.

Gigi thought it was very clever of me to use "sick" spots on a get well card.

I really didn't know how to respond to that comment, so I just smiled weakly and told her I was glad she liked it.

(I actually ended up making this card twice because I had two different inky accidents during the filming of my card. If you watch the video, you'll notice the card in the still photograph is a tiny bit different than the one I make in the video itself.)

T I P 

You can get a very nice shadow or halo effect by stamping the same image with two or three ink colors. Use the lightest color of ink first and clean the stamp thoroughly before inking with the second color. It's best to use a stamp positioner so your second impression is going to be just a tiny bit off-set from the first. Repeat this step if you use a third color.

Project Stash: Die Organization, Part II

Today's video shares how I store my oversized and border dies.

I've had a dickens of a time getting it uploaded and properly formatted. And even as I was typing this post, I discovered the stupid thing was only viewable at 240p instead of the 720p HD version it was supposed to be in! So I had to start from scratch with the sharing and uploading process.

(If you're reading this post, it means I finally won this particular skirmish with technology!)

On a much happier note, I'm thrilled to announce that I submitted two cards to Paper Crafts magazine, and one of them was accepted and will be published in one of their upcoming specialty publications!

A June Video for The Craft's Meow

Today is my post for The Craft's Meow and did I have a whale of a time getting my video uploaded! (Somebody needs a computer upgrade, I suspect. And/or some major purging of computer files.)

I really loved making today's card. Whenever I can color something and listen to a book on CD I'm a happy Stamper Camper. I just get into this creative zone that is very therapeutic and enjoyable as I'm not worried about the product and am completely absorbed in the process.

I highly recommend you try this is you haven't already!

A Video for The Craft's Meow

Happy Memorial Day! 

For all the service members who have put themselves on the line to protect my country, my family, and myself... I thank you and your families for your many sacrifices. 

God bless you all.

On a lighter note, today is my post for The Craft's Meow. I decided to make a wedding day card AND to go outside my comfort zone by forcing myself to create a card within a specific time limit and to stick to whatever I made - even if it went south.

And, oh, baby, did it go south!

However, I stuck to my guns and rode out the Ugly Storm, and I'm glad I did because I actually like my end result. (I can live without a repeat of the process, though!)
